Northern Roots Festival: The Highlight of this fantastic festival, was Alan and Maryann Frew.
I say that with as much of an unbiased slant as I can muster. As the openers of the final Sunday night line up, they were sensational.
Not with foot stomping, unison handclapping stuff, but reflective, insightful beautiful songs, performed with a soothing velvet like sound, that had the ability to put an audience at ease, no, let's say a blissful state.
A Fleet Foxes cover to finish, and within that a Rodriguez y Gabriela style flourish, only convinced me more that these guys, either as a duo or individually are certainly going places.

Strathpeffer Coffee House: Alan and Maryann, followed last night's performance at this great venue in beautiful Strathpeffer.
Preceding the fantastic Chris Cook, this was another great mixture of blues, fingerpicking, rocking, mellow music with coffee and camaraderie . An impromptu pairing up finale from Chris and Alan, was simply special.
