I have "Liked" the MOJO Magazine page on Facebook and they regularly ask readers to suggest a track for their Readers' Playlist. This was my effort. Thought I would also share it here.
Paul Simon - "Peace Like a River"
This track, taken from his first post S&G solo album demonstrates Paul's more simplistic yet effortlessly sophisticated style of songwriting, and his ability to conjure strong imagery in his lyrics, is on show here as he depicts what I always imagine to be a South American capital overturned in a coup and subsequent rejoicing. Maybe I'm wrong, but they are evocative words nonetheless. The song has a bluesy feel with a cool, syncopated riff unlike most of Simon's other work. Yet another reason why Paul Simon is such a significant musician and songwriter.
