flyinshoes review

welcome to Flyinshoes Review americana webzine

A new Kevin Deal album is always a red letter day at The Medicine Maisonette, so I thought Ide spread the good news at Flyinshoes.

Kevin may even now be a new name to many confirmed Country Music fans, he may never achieve the record sales of a say a Tim McGraw or Toby Kieth, a fact that I'm sure at his stage in a career in the main financed by himself and maintained in true independent fashoin, he may have lost all part of the dream now but has come back with a dream of an album. I suspect Kevin is as relaxed as his way of producing music about missing that particular music row bound gravy train now, it really feels that way on this album. Instead of a artist trying to sell him self and his music, we inheret an artist with his roots and integrity not only intact but at the heart of his work. His album is named "7 Seven" is album number six (go figure?) from Kevin and he's managed again to avoid calling it "The Real Deal", but Kevin is quite simply is the real deal, a pure country voice and a skilled country writer and arraigner.

On "7 Seven" Deal shuffles up a familiar country pack of themes including, love (requited and otherwise), and with the skilled eye of the maverick, pairs trucking with lost youth, cheating and hurting (ofcourse), breaking the law with, up keeping the law , and generally working hard with the service of family country and the lord, stacked with a variety of country styles ranging from The Rollin Stones to George Jones.

Lloyd Mains (dobro acoustic and electric guitars and occasional pedal steels) puts his usual stamp of quality on the production , and together with an equally skilled collection of musicians Deal has again served up a hand worth betting on.

Let hope seven is lucky for Kevin and proves lucky for more fans looking for great Country music who find Kevin Deal in the cut as a result.
