Jointpop UK dates in September

Veteran Trinidadian band Jointpop are back on UK shores in September and October.  They are a group who deliver "Clash style rants to Velvet-like laid back grooves with Dylanesque lyrics".  Their influences from Bob Marley to The Sex Pistols are interpreted and incorporated into their music along with a strong Caribbean cultural essence.    

 

Jointpop are fronted by singer/songwriter Gary Hector and guitarist Damon Homer and have been creating innovative music for the past 15 years since their formation in 1996 which has earned them diverse comparisons that echo their influences.  It is easy to draw such comparisons upon listening to their new album, a both eclectic and credible mix.

 

Their 4th album, The Longest Kiss Goodnight - was released in March this year and is available from Itunes etc.  A tight live band, they sum up 15 years of their life in music in the rocking $oul$ Going Cheap with their now trademark keyboard, chopped up, with down the line vocals and ringing guitar. With a title like Please Don't Tell My In-laws (I'm an outlaw), the song begs to be listened to while the album goes on a tangent towards punk.  We Can't Work it Out and Planes, Trains and Pain are both gripping well worked rock ballads with great phrasing.
