Lucy Tight and Wayne Waxing bring their wonderful three-string guitar driven sound to the UK This Autumn...
Husband and wife duo Hymn For Her epitomise the notion of recording, giging musicians on the road. Touring in their 16ft Airstream trailer with their baby and dog, Lucy Tight and Wayne Waxing are amazing multi instrumentalists whose songs, a mix of country stompers and down-home blues, are wonderfully created on a mixture of their now trademark 3 string cigar box guitar sound, dobro, bass drum, harp and hi-hat played all at the same time to make a remarkable, unique and completely absorbing sound.
The album, Lucy & Wayne And The Amairican Stream, was recorded in its entirety in their classic trailer whilst embarking on a US coast-to-coast tour. Stopping at various campgrounds, driveways, and parking lots along the way they set up their recording studio whenever they could rolled tape and essentially rocked out. The album, which gets its official UK release around upcoming UK tour has already received some glowing praise from the US critics. The LA Times did a whole feature on the cigar box guitar and his roots and re-emergence citing Hymn For Her as main players in that revival sound whilst the Nashville Scene describes their sound as “some mixture of Captain Beefheart’s Safe as Milk and the casual song structures of The Shaggs”.
Hymn For Her will be in the UK from late September giving the UK a taste of their incredible live shows. They will both be available for interviews, radio sessions, in store appearances or whatever publicity they can do.
