www.templerecords.co.uk Scottish traditional award winning singer Christine Primrose from the village of Carloway on the west side Isle Of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides was singing and recording as far back as 1982 in Gaelic long before it became semi-fashionable. November last year was the recipient of the ‘Gaelic Singer Of The Year Award’ at Scotland’s Traditional Music Awards and as a result Temple records have issued a single ‘Mo Cheist Am Fear Ban’, and with it backed by the likewise pure warm ‘An Ghille Dhu’ the rare beauty of unaccompanied singing is beautifully captured. ‘Mo Cheist Am Fear Ban’ is a poignant story of how a girl marries a wealthy man only to regret it and, with Primrose singing in a relaxed and convincing style the music gains a way to the heart of the listener. For more on Christine, her debut album (among others) Áite Mo Ghaoil (Place Of My Heart), 1982 underlines the consistency of her work and her devotion to the art. Now residing on the Isle of Skye she also teaches Gaelic song and has a strong fan base. Maurice Hope
