Tom Russell - Live at Southport

I’m thinking of starting a sub series of blogs: “Glorious artists in incongruous settings”. Until Tuesday night Steve Earle in the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester ( more suited to Manchester ‘s Symphony orchestra ) would have been high up that list, possibly top, closely followed by Chatham County Line playing at St Bede’s in Chorley, which looks to be a typical working men’s club, and more suited to - well, anyone who might play a WMC. Top ten gigs of the decade

It's the top ten end of the decade, time to reminisce about some great times seeing musicians play in the Highlands. It's been a great time for me, re-discovering gig going after all the years when a young family meant other things took priority. My only regret is that I don't have the time and money to see more. Still, scarcity value counts for a lot. Anyway, here's my completely arbitrary list of favourite gigs in the last ten years (or so):
