Federal Charm -- Passenger (Wire-Sound)

Federal Charm return for their third studio album with a new lead vocalist and drummer, Tom Guyer and Josh Zahler, and open up with a blast. Swing Sinner is a great introduction to Guyer’s archetypal rock vocal. There’s no let up on Choke with Federal Charm confirming their status as one of Britain’s top up and coming Rock bands. Emerald Haze is a break up…

Joe Bonamassa – Redemption ( Provogue)

Redemption is Joe Bonamassa’s 13th solo studio album and is full of original material. The tone is set with Evil Mama. First of all we get slapped drums, horns, female backing vocal and obligatory soaring guitar solos as Joe throws it all at this driving opener. You’ll have a good time with King Bee Shakedown, which is a full on Boogie of a Blues. Horns…

Frank Bey – Back In Business: The Nashville Sessions (NOLA Blue NB006)

Back in Business

Georgia-born Frank is one of the best blues and soul singers around these days, having started out as a teenager as driver and sometimes  opening act for Otis Redding for several years (billed as "Frank Bass")– his roots are obviously in the gospel music he sang as a youngster. Mike Vernon & The Mighty Combo – Beyond The Blues Horizon ( Manhaton Records)

It’s strange to think that this is the debut album from Mike Vernon considering his history. Founder of the legendary British Blues label, Blue Horizon who gave starts to Peter Green, Rory Gallagher, Paul Kossoff and Christine McVie to name but a few) and producer of some of the finest British Blues (John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, Ten Years…

SCOTT SHARRARD – Saving Grace (We Save Music)

Recorded in Memphis and Muscle Shoals with the Hi Records rhythm section and the likes of David Hood and Spooner Oldham respectively, it would be difficult not to recommend this CD. Let’s mention too that Scott was Gregg Allman’s musical director for nearly ten years, and note that of the first three tracks, the opening ‘High…
