TEN YEARS AFTER - 40 YEARS LATER : THE HEROES OF WOODSTCOK 2009 REUNION

So what was I expecting on my noon arrival in little Bethel NY ?

Half a million people over a wide hilly open plain in the rain ..again - NO.

Before turning off into the woods after the 3hr trek north from JFK, I got a buzz seeing the tie dye shirt stands and walkers ,bikers and

other signs of 'Hippiedom' on 25E. Some of the walkers 'inside ' Bethel Woods Arts Centre were more suited for Zimmer frames and…

Mitchell had been in ill health since September, after suffering a broken hip. In December he went into cardiac arrest and was taken back to the hospital, “where he’s just been holding on,” said his grandson, Lawrence “Boo” Mitchell.

LZ Love & Lightning Red -- Gut Bucket Blues - Own Label (media)

LZ Love has an impressive list of artists that she has sung and toured with including Joan Armatrading and Luther Vandross but she has returned to her blues and gospel roots to team up with guitarist Lightning Red. The opening Been Lonely is drawled out and LZ has such a soulful voice. Red strums away in the background and adds some background vocals towards the end. You can feel her pain with every syllable. Wang Dang Doodle is the famous old… Continue

Arty Hill and The Long Gone Daddies - Montgomery On My Mind (The Hank EP)- Cow Island Records (media)

Arty Hill and The Long Gone Daddies - Coming to a Honky-tonk near you!

Arty and the boys work out of the Baltimore Maryland Honky-tonks and are as good a reason as I can imagine for adding a night out In Baltimore to the things to do before I die list. Thankfully the rest of the world seem to be catching on to his smooth, actuate and soulful take on the Honky-Tonk idiom. The Long Gone Daddys are beginning to set the woods on fire out with their own back yard, and maybe… Continue

KATE MacLEOD —BLOOMING - Waterbug (media)

www.katemacleod.com

Americana singer-songwriter Kate MacLeod makes interesting music, a finely spun mix of folk and country music tinged with hints of pop, and when she kicks off her shoes to rattle along at a quicker tempo she is of another class. That isn’t to say her more studious, inner looking songs aren’t good. They are. But it is on the songs possessing a greater feel of freedom and free abandon that Kate instantly appeals.… Continue
