Matt Sillars commented on John Crosbie's blog post Damn Hot, Strathpeffer Coffee House
"I posted this on facebook, but as it is a bit ephemeral, so I thought I would add it here. I missed the evening in question and I am commenting in general - One of the strengths of the coffee shop is that it is a genuine open mic venue, so some days…"

Lori Williams commented on John Crosbie's blog post Damn Hot, Strathpeffer Coffee House
"Hmm, well I can't disagree much with this. Rosie is young but has a lovely voice and she coped fantastically well with the mic dropping out on her. I definitely missed Matt on the sound mixer, and leading the bass line on the blues jam. Gil is…"

Damn Hot, Strathpeffer Coffee House

Esther O'Connor at Strathpeffer Coffee Shop

A driech summer Monday night in Strathpeffer, and at this terrific wee venue, it should have been standing room only, but it wasn't and that is to the detriment of those who never showed up.Travelling a wee distance to see the great acts that have appeared at the Coffee House, for me is well worth it, and for someone of Esther O'Connors talent, I would drive 500 miles, no sorry, someones already done that one.A passerby, may have thought that Buffy Saint Marie or Joni Mitchell was belting out…See More

The Blues and The Frews

Northern Roots Festival: The Highlight of this fantastic festival, was Alan and Maryann Frew.I say that with as much of an unbiased slant as I can muster. As the openers of the final Sunday night line up, they were sensational. Not with foot stomping, unison handclapping stuff, but reflective, insightful beautiful songs, performed with a soothing velvet like sound, that had the ability to put an audience at ease, no, let's say a blissful state.A Fleet Foxes cover to finish, and within that a…See More
