Great review for Shooting Star CD by my band Saloon Dogs

Great review on Dutch music blog altcountryforum.nl. It's in Dutch, but according to Google Translate (which ins't perfect but will have to do) it goes something like this: "The music is catchy, sometimes happy, sometimes sad but always honest. "Shooting Star" is a wonderfully entertaining album with a basic acoustic guitar, pleasant melodies and exceptionally beautiful singing. Sometimes there is no need for the listener to get into the seventh heaven."

Good review for Shooting Star CD in latest issue of Maverick magazine

The January 2011 issue of Maverick magazine has a review of the Shooting Star CD by my band Saloon Dogs. It's available as a PDF download now and the magazine goes on sale from 10 December.

Here are the highlights: "...a rich and original mix of country, folk and even rootsy pop. Lead vocals are shared by Billy and his wife Maria and both have great feeling and empathy for the mainly sad-tinged songs like the emotive Sunday Morning or I Never Thought That She Would Ever Make Me… Continue

Saloon Dogs song reaches semi final of Song Of The Year contest

This was a pleasant surprise that came out of nowhere. My song, You don't Have To Be Crazy To Love Me (But It Helps), which I recorded with the Saloon Dogs, reached the semi final of the prestigious Song Of The Year competition.

Good review for Shooting Star CD by Saloon Dogs from Rootstime.be

Very even-handed review for Shooting Star from Belgian website Rootstime.be. I never thought Bob Dylan and Neil Young would be named in a review of our CD. I've had to use Google Translate and then make it sound more natural because the literal translation was very messy, but the heart of it (and I hope this is accurate) is as follows:

"From the first song, When I Look In Your Eyes, the tone of the CD is set: harmony vocals, acoustic guitars and tuneful pop songs. An ideal start for… Continue

Nice short review on Fatea magazine web site for Shooting Star

Saloon Dogs just got a short and sweet review for Shooting Star CD on the Fatea magazine web site, and I quote:

"Born from the ashes of The Bogarts, Saloon Dogs recorded their debut album, "Shooting Star" way back in 1996. It's taken fourteen years and the imminent reformation of the band for it to see the light of day. It's aged well, hopefully like it's audience. There's ten songs on the album, each exploring concepts of love, having both male and female vocalists, in the shape of… Continue
